Charae Degrow (also known as “Rae”) is a Canadian producer, songwriter, engineer, and mixer working across live and studio environments. Through open collaboration, she merges artistic vision with technical execution. Since entering the field in August 2025, Charae has established trust quickly with industry professionals. She has experience working at Ottawa venues including Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Bronson Centre Music Theatre, Club SAW, and Algonquin Commons Theatre.
Charae is the founder of Rhythm With Rae (RWR). RWR is a creative business that is built around adapting to the artist rather than reshaping their sound, allowing creative direction to lead technical decisions. The focus is on responsive, steady work that follows the needs of each project rather than imposing a fixed process. Artists working with RWR experience the freedom to create and perform with confidence.

RWR is also expanding into educational workshops and public speaking. November 2025, RWR delivered its first live audio workshop at St. Francis Xavier High School in Ottawa. RWR workshops are informed by Charae’s background in community mental health. February 2026, Charae has been invited to New York City to speak on the “Overcoming Barriers in the Music Industry” panel hosted by the Soundgirls NYC Chapter and Support Women DJs. Charae’s B.A of Psychology from McMaster University shapes how she approaches education, communicating with others, and group learning.

An honours alumna of the Algonquin College Music Industry Arts (MIA) program, Charae serves on the MIA Advisory Committee. Her committee work includes advocating for curriculum relevance that reflects current industry practice. Charae received the 2025 Field Service Canada Award for Leadership and Innovation from Algonquin College. Looking ahead to 2026, RWR will collaborate with the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC), with Charae serving as Technical Director.

Charae’s work contributes to a more accessible Canadian music ecosystem. Through Rhythm With Rae, she focuses on reducing barriers for women and gender diverse emerging audio technicians by supporting clearer pathways into technical careers.
